King

Joanne Gallegos
Class of 2011
Political Science

People always refute me when I call myself a king, simply because I'm a woman and they think I should say I'm a queen or princess. However, a king to me is someone who is sovereign in their own right and a king should for FOR people not over them as commonly thought. That's how I see myself. I've worked hard to get to where I am, getting myself to and through college while maintaining grades, jobs, and leadership positions-making me sovereign in my own right. Finally, my goal in life is to help those in need, the impoverished. I want to work hard and learn what I need to in order to better their situation-which is to say that I work hard FOR them.
