Excellence

The Greek word areté, in essence, refers to “excellence” or “virtue” of any kind. The Greeks used this word to denote courage, strength, and the need to live up to one’s full potential. While in its time, areté was what all people aspired to, it seems to me many of us have forgotten to recognize what fulfills us! As I get ready to graduate and transition into the next stage of my life, the word areté reminds me to live by my personal, philosophy: chase the dream, not the competition!
