Compassionate

Alejandra Aguilar
Class of 2014
Bioengineering

I chose this word because I am compassionate towards others whether it’s my family or complete strangers. This represents me because I started a free-cleaning service for low-income cancer patients in their homes, which I named “cleaning with your heart.” With the help of St. Joseph’s medical center, I am referred patients whose homes need cleaning. I understand that having cancer has an emotional, physical, and financial toll on the person and their caregiver, and the last thing they want to worry about is chores. So I come and clean their home for free. In the future I hope to work even closer with patients by becoming a medical doctor, and helping my patients and their families.
